My sister Elizaveta and I joined the new Auditorium Theatre Junior Board at a kick-off cocktail party on July 26 at the Hard Rock Cafe. Auditorium Theatre calls the Board “a group of dedicated young professionals that will be committed to carrying out the legacy of the Theatre and making their mark in history.”
After a longstanding relationship with Auditorium Theatre, a National Landmark that is the venue for so many of Chicago’s most thrilling performances, I’m excited to take this step forward in support of their outstanding arts and education mission.

Promoting cross-cultural understanding and cooperation is an important goal for me, and I had an unexpected opportunity for this on July 21, when Russian journalists visited my business here in Chicago. They were here as part of a TV Co-op project through the Office of Broadcast Services, part of the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Public Affairs.
The journalists are traveling around the country for a program showcasing small businesses with unique concepts, to air in Russia and possibly the United States.
Russian Pointe was recommended to them by the City of Chicago Mayor’s Office and WorldChicago. I spoke about the history, mission and operations of Russian Pointe, and took the journalists on a tour of our offices, Boutique, warehouse and shipping department.
It is an honor that learning about my experiences with Russian Pointe could be useful for those in my home country. It is rewarding to know that small business opportunities are being supported by the Russian government and media, and that the U.S. is able to facilitate this. Projects like this one help put passion and vision into reality.
What goes into hosting a successful, memorable and exciting seminar at Russian Pointe? Hundreds of hours of preparation – from arranging a delicious menu at Russian Tea Time, a restaurant across from the Art Institute of Chicago, to making hotel arrangements at the newly remodeled Allerton Hotel on Michigan Avenue; from producing and publishing our 64-page Fitting Manual, a truly unique and remarkably complete resource, to videotaping a 45-minute fitting video; from rehearsing with fitting models to briefing Russian Pointe staff on our goals and objectives for seminars.
Why we do it? Of course, we hope that seminars will ultimately lead to an increase in customer loyalty and sales, and we certainly enjoy such personal interaction with our retailers (not to mention a delicious dinner with champagne!). But, the real reason, for me, is to realize that Russian Pointe makes a difference in people’s lives – both on and off the stage.
Please watch the video from our most recent seminar (November 2009) and hear heart-touching stories about becoming more empowered, confident and successful as a result of affiliation with Russian Pointe.
Thank you for making Russian Pointe a part of your world!
Available for the very first time, our new DVD includes two professionally produced films with Aleksandra Efimova. In “The Russian Pointe Experience,” Aleksandra goes backstage into the company’s history, current activities and Boutique ambience. “Crafted by Hand, Fit by Hand” is a lively and engaging presentation of pointe-fitting principles, with step-by-step instructions and special fitting tips.
“We set out to show our clients and friends what Russian Pointe was all about, and to help retailers learn more about the fitting process. We accomplished our goals and more; the films are truly lovely.”
