Big dreams in small boxes
Good DVDs of benchmark ballet choreography and performance can be hard to find. We were so excited to discover that the Russian Pointe boutique, conveniently located in the Loop in a second-floor Michigan Avenue space, has a wonderful library of ballet-related DVDs, CDs and books. In addition to quality recordings of classical ballet favorites such as a version of Giselle with Rudolf Nureyev and Lynn Seymour, it also has fun Hollywood dance-related releases such as 1948’s The Red Shoes, and 1977’s The Turning Point. The picturesque shop is also a fairyland for those who dance or love ballet fashion: In addition to beautifully tailored tutus and other costumes, it carries a full line of dance shoes, legwarmers, sweaters and accessories.
