Different pointe shoes are made with various colors of satin. Pancaking will give a clean, uniform look on stage.
Pancaking can cover black marks and worn places on the satin.
Some teachers do not like the shine of the satin under the stage lights.
What you’ll need to use:
Calomine lotion, pancake makeup, or shoe makeup
Makeup sponge or wash cloth
Water
Dry Cloth
Instructions:
Dampen wash cloth/sponge and squeeze out excess water. No water required if using calomine!
Swipe the cloth/sponge over the pot of makeup and put the makeup on the shoe in even strokes.
You will need to wet the cloth/sponge several times and apply more make up. Use as little water as possible, too much will result in breaking down the box of the shoe.
Allow the shoe to dry. Some areas of the shoe, such as dark marks, may require a second coat.
With a dry cloth buff the shoe to remove excess loose make up.
